Road Closures

On Sunday, 21 June 2026, Parramatta becomes the stage for something genuinely historic. The inaugural Parramatta Half Marathon will see 8,000 participants take to our streets, parks, and riverside in a national showcase of one of Australia's great cities.

Organised by 180 Cadence and proudly supported by the City of Parramatta, this event is more than a race. It is a celebration of our magnificent parklands, our vibrant riverfront, and the growing national profile of Greater Western Sydney.

But this is a major sporting event, and it will have a tangible impact on our city and the roads are the City of Parramatta. There will be significant road closures, parking restrictions and special event clearways in and around the City of Parramatta.

Closures may affect how you travel if you are driving or catching public transport to the area on race day. View the interactive road closure map for full details of road closures and clearways, or visit livetraffic.com for real-time traffic updates.

Road Closure Details

  • Major road closures will be in place from 3:00 am in the City of Parramatta. Roads will start to progressively reopen from 10:30 am with all roads reopened by 12:00 pm (midday).

  • Special event clearway parking restrictions will be in effect on various roads throughout the City of Parramatta between 1:00 am and 12:00 pm on Sunday 21 June.

These clearways are in place to clear the course of vehicles for participant safety.

Clearways are strict no-parking zones for all vehicle types and apply even to local residents and TfNSW Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs carefully as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.

For event specific details on clearway locations and times, as well as real-time traffic updates, visit livetraffic.com.

  • Public transport services will continue to operate; however light rail services and some bus routes will be affected by road closures. We recommend that residents, workers and visitors:

    • Avoid non‑essential travel in and around the City of Parramatta on race morning

    • Allow extra travel time if movement is required

    • Follow detour signage and directions from traffic controllers

    • Use public transport where possible

    • Visit livetraffic.com for details on changes.

  • Most of the Parramatta River foreshore shared path (Valley Cycleway) around Parramatta will be closed for the duration of the event period on Sunday morning. During this time:

    • The shared path will be closed to cyclists and pedestrians

    • The path will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so after the event has passed

  • On‑street parking across much of the course and surrounding streets will be unavailable during clearway periods. This includes residential parking zones and streets that may normally allow parking on weekends.

Alternative parking locations are limited and may be impacted by closures. Residents should plan ahead and avoid relying on kerbside parking on race day.

Event safety announcements and music will occur between 6.00am and 11.00am. We will be mindful of nearby residents and keep noise levels as moderate as possible.
